HOORAY! OVERTURE HALL!
Keynote Event Moves To New Venue!
Thanks to your overwhelming response, we are pleased to announce that the Wendell Berry event is moving into Overture Hall. This is the biggest/newest/fanciest of the venues in Overture Center for the Arts, with room for more than twice as many attendees!
FREE tickets are available online.
We have heard from people as far away as North Dakota, people who've named their sons Wendell, and people who've studied Wendell Berry for decades. Along with our co-sponsor, the Aldo Leopold Foundation, we are very pleased to be able to provide the opportunity for these folks and so many others to see Mr. Berry as he makes this long-awaited appearance- and to offer it for free.
An enormous wave of gratitude is due to Overture Center for the Arts, for making its premiere venue available to us. This marks the first time a Wisconsin Book Festival event will take place in Overture Hall (although their role as a Presenting Sponsor of the Fest has brought us into many of their beautiful spaces over the past several years).
Sneak Peek--More Festival Highlights
Our complete schedule will be published very soon. In the meantime, here's a heads-up about some of the other new and exciting stuff we are doing this year:
- Lorrie Moore and Michael Perry will share the Orpheum stage with readings on Thursday October 8 ... but wait, there's more! "Michael Perry & The Long Beds" will perform a rocking set to get us in the mood for a Festive Festival Bash--all FREE! (well ... cash bar)
- We'll showcase two more of Wisconsin's literary treasures, Jane Hamilton and David Rhodes, on Saturday night (October 10) in the Overture's Promenade Hall--home of the classiest bleacher seating you'll ever sit upon.
- Don't make daytime plans on Saturday either, because you won't want to miss comic/graphic arts heroes Lynda Barry (a native of Richland Center, doncha know?) and Harvey Pekar (Cleveland all the way), at 10am and noon.
Wisconsin Book Festival Support--Consider a Pledge Today!
We are so excited to expand and grow to meet the needs of an ever-increasing audience! The generosity of our supporters makes this possible--thanks to contributions from people like you, we're able to offer these events free of charge and accessible to all. If you would like to help ensure the Wisconsin Book Festival continues to serve future audiences, please consider making a pledge today.
Thanks for continuing to respond to what we present. (And don't forget to snag your Wendell Berry tickets!)
