The Wisconsin Book Festival and Madison Community Foundation present author Sheryl WuDunn in a candid conversation with author David Maraniss. Ms. WuDunn will share her experiences as a professional woman, journalist, author, women's rights advocate and financial executive. Ms. WuDunn's books, A Path Appears, and Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide (2009) will both be available for sale and signing following the event.

About Presenter Sheryl WuDunn

 

Sheryl WuDunn, the first Asian-American reporter to win a Pulitzer Prize, is a business executive and best-selling author. She is co-author of A Path Appears: Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity with her husband, New York Times journalist Nicholas Kristof. She will share with our Madison audience her insights on the art and science of giving, determining the current most successful local and global aid initiatives, evaluating the efficiency and impact of specific approaches and charities, as well as fund-raising.

Ms. WuDunn has co-authored three additional books with Mr. Kristof including Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide (2009), a No. 1 New York Times best-selling book about the challenges facing women around the globe; China Wakes: The Struggle for the Soul of a Rising Power (1994); and Thunder from the East: Portrait of a Rising Asia (2000). Documentary films of A Path Appears and Half the Sky have been featured on PBS. Currently, she works with entrepreneurs in new media, media technology and social enterprise at a small investment banking boutique in NYC. She also runs FullSky Capital, which focuses on socially driven investing.
