Presented in partnership with the UW Program in Creative Writing, a reading from the graduating MFA cohort in fiction. Featuring the work of Emma Binder, Angela Boyd, James Eberhard, Kathryn Harlan, Sean Hayes, and Danie Shokoohi.

About Presenter Emma Binder


Emma Binder is a fiction writer and an MFA candidate at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her work has previously appeared in Pleiades, DIAGRAM, and Sporklet.

About Presenter Angela Boyd


Angela Boyd is a writer based in Washington, D.C. and Madison, where she is an MFA candidate in fiction at the University of Wisconsin. Previously, Angela worked on Capitol Hill, lobbied for affordable housing, and reported for the investigative unit at ABC News in New York. The recipient of a 2019 Bread Loaf Work-Study Scholarship, she received her BA from Johns Hopkins University and Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.

About Presenter James Eberhard


James Eberhard was born in Hamburg and spent most of his youth in northern Illinois. He has lived in the South, the Midwest, the Southwest and the Northeast. He is working on two novels.

About Presenter Kathryn Harlan


Kathryn Harlan is a fiction writer, currently at work on a novel and a book of stories. Her work can be found in Strange Horizons, The Gettysburg Review, and the Michigan Quarterly Review.

Sean Hayes

About Presenter Sean Hayes


Sean Hayes is in recovery. He currently lives in Madison and writes a lot.

About Presenter Danie Shokoohi


Danie Shokoohi is a fiction candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison MFA program. Her fiction, poetry, and non-fiction have been previously published in Plain China Press, Vassar Review, Occulum, Hypertrophic Literary, and Glass: A Journal of Poetry. She was one the winners of the 2017 Ellis Review New Colossus Award and the 2018 winner of the Wasafiri Prize in Poetry. She is the senior press editor of Half Mystic Press.
